Perth

sunny 33 °C

Fremantle Maritime museum was a great museum. Among many other things they had this diving suit from the James Bond movie "For Your Eyes Only".

After the museum we took a river cruise from Fremantle to Perth on Swan River.
We actually saw some dolphins jumping next to the ferry.

There was a misty fog hanging over Perth because of a bushfire some 400 km down south. You can see that on the photos (great excuse for bad photos).

In Perth we did a new attempt to find wild kangaroos. On Heirisson Island there should be an enclosed area (500x200 meter) with a colony of grey kangaroos. This time it should be impossible for the jumping creatures to escape us. But after searching the island for almost two hours being through every bush and tree we didn't see anything :-(

But believe it or not in the middle of the town centre we actually encountered some Kangaroos drinking water from a fountain.

We ended the Perth visit with some disgusting cocktails (Maria liked them though).

Rottnest Island

sunny 33 °C

Rottnest Island is just 19 km off the coast of Fremantle.
Cars are prohibited so you have to walk or bike. We choosed the latter.
We took a tour around the island (22 km) and watched some of the 63 beautiful beaches.

John and Drew visiting and Perth

semi-overcast 28 °C

We went out for a 6 km walk at Bibra lake together with Lis in the morning.
On our returning John and Drew arrived, Drew was so happy to see aunt Lis and of course Lis was as excited to see Drew.
I was happy to meet John again, we cant remember what year he was in Sweden so we have to ask Barbro about that, but we agree it would have been somewhere around the late 70 ´s

John stayed the whole night and Drew was to stay for the next day as well.

Next day we headed for Kings Park in Perth, the park was huge and there were many people there.
Very nice areas to stroll along and a lot of options to play for the kids.
But the funniest thing showed to be a fontaine that blew water on everyone standing near.

Back to Fremantle and Little Creature brewery

sunny 38 °C

After a few hours in Bunbury with no dolphins showing we had to head tome to return the car.
For the first time ever ( that we have heard of..) the fuel got empty during Henke using it at the Shell station.
We just got 6 litres and than the alarm started that they where out of unleaded gas..

After returning the car we walked to the beach from city centre of Fremantle in 38 degrees, that was warm ;-)
You could almost see smoke rising from us when we got into the water ..
we just lied in the water for a long time.

In the evening we went to the harbour to the Little Creature micro breweri.
It started up in the same way Nynäshamns ångbryggeri did, but are now having a large restaurant area in the breweri with lots of guests. The most popular restaurant in Fremantle according to a survey.
We had a nice nigh out and i was given a Little creature balloon from the artist.
It was stunning to see him perform very fast, it really was a show.
Here are some pics from the night from my small party camera

Viv and Charlie drove us to the airport in Adelaide and said farewell.
It was really sad saying goodbye but we hope that they come to Sweden soon.

On Tuesday we left for a three days roadtrip to the southern part of WA.
First stop was Albany which is a cosy little town by the sea. We stayed at the Dog rock motel.

The next day we drove by the coast to Denmark where we visited Ocean Beach which apparently is a great surf beach.
It felt like a Hallelujah-moment to look around and everything was beautyful.

A little further down the road we found this gorgeous little beach Greens Pool which were really nice.
Like being on a beach in Fiji or something.
It was hard to leave that place because of the relaxing and wonderful environment.

Then we went for the Valley of the Giants where you could do the Tree top walk. We also saw the very rare Quokka

We spend the night in a little village called Walpole which really hasn't much to offer.
Next day we took off for the Margaret River area where there had been a lot of bushfires.

First stop was Hamelin Bay where there was a great beach.
We actually encountered wild stingrays which we could pet and feed.

Then we drove up north to Yalingup where we had lunch. After that we took a bath on Meely Beach close to Dunsborough.
We spend the night in Bunbury where we had a really good dinner at a restaurang called Donnys Place.
The morning after we went to the Dolphin Discovery Center. We paid 10$ for entering the area just to find out that the
beach with the supposed dolphins where open to public. We waited for two hours without seeing any dolphins before heading
back to Fremantle.
