The Art Deco capital of the world.
After an earthquake in the 1920s the entire town was rebuilt in an Art Deco style.

The town should supposedly also have a wonderful lookout point, Bluff Hill Lookout.
After having climbed for nearly an hour it really turned out as a "Bluff".

Before getting a Guinness at the local pub we experienced a nice sunset on the beach.

Last day in Rotorua

semi-overcast 18 °C

The weather is turning towards rain again so we decided to move on to Napier.
We had a nice morning starting with Maori Thai Chi with Linda and Annette.
Linda baked some scones that we had for breakfast together with lots of fruit.

After Linda went to work and we packed our things.
Before leaving we took Annette to her school to get her medal.

That means that Annette is now a certified nurse :-)
Well done!
We dropped Annette of at her home, with a little sadness to say good bye.
But as Linda says: soon going, soon coming ( i think ;-) )
I am so happy to have met Annette again, and hope for that next time will be sooner than before.
Thanks Annette and Linda for a wonderful time
Welcome to Stockholm

Finally some sun!!!
Cousin Annette was giving us a guided tour around Rotorua.
Rotorua is the most thermal active area in NZ and the air was constantly filled with a smell of sulfur.
Geysers, boiling mud holes, acid pools in amazing colors.

Then we continued with some culture.
We went visiting a maori village and experienced the traditional Haka war dance.

After that it was nice to visit the Polynesian Spa for some relaxing in hot thermal pools.
Many Thanks to Annette for a fantastic day!

In the evening we took a stroll around Government gardens.

Travel to Rotorua

Woke up early to check out from Base backpacker and get the rented car.
Of course the rental company managed to miss the GPS but at least the car got four wheels so what the heck.

The highway ended shortly after Auckland but the express way took on for another 10 km.
after that it was typical swedish "landsväg", it went quite well, Maria driving all the way.

It felt a little bit odd to drive on left side and even more to get in on the right side of the car.
But no accidents ;-)

We arrived in a rainy Rotorua at 2 pm and it was son nice to see Annette again, i think it was around 15 years ago.
so we gave each other a really big hug.
Except for Linda that Annette lives with we also got to meet the real estate agent though they are selling the house.

We had a short trip to city centre to have some tea and walk in Kirukao park during the time the house was on show.
We hope the house soon are sold because the family now want it.

Going to bed very satisfied of the day.

i mean: meating cousin Annette after so long time
, driving on left side and manage that... wow i´m good :-)

Auckland day 2 was suppose to contain Sky city tower with jumping and viewing.

Henke slept the whole day through but Maria took a long walk through Albert Park and up to Parnell Village that was a beatufyl village with special shops and very pretty houses. lots of cafés and restaurants.
Due to the acing shoulder i did not do the jump from Sky city power but i look forward to other activities further on.
